Additionally, a doctor from a Texas hospital explains that the active ingredients in turmeric have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, both of which are great for relieving joint symptoms.

Turmeric usually comes as a spice. However, turmeric also sells as a herbal supplement and in capsules.

Various studies have noted that a dose of 500 to 2,000 mg per day effectively provides its healing properties. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends a daily intake of 1.4 mg per pound of body weight. 

For a more traditional route, turmeric can be added to everyday diets. 

Turmeric tastes great in teas and offers a wonderful flavor for cooking. To absorb turmeric correctly, fat or heat needs to be applied. The low bioavailability of turmeric requires heat or fat to help the absorption of the supplement. Combining turmeric with other spices while you cook or with coconut milk enhances bioavailability.
